About SeatCanvas

My Story

SeatCanvas was born from my own wedding. My wife and I had a big celebration — over 300 guests. We both have large families and many groups of friends, and when it came time to figure out the seating chart, it became one of the most stressful parts of planning.

We're both visual people, and we needed to keep our parents in the loop too — they know the family dynamics and politics of who sits well with whom. I wanted to use a spreadsheet. My wife wanted a big sheet of paper. Honestly, both solutions were terrible. You couldn't easily rearrange things, share them, or see the whole picture at a glance.

So I decided to build something. I'm a software engineer, and I thought I could put together a quick tool that would let us visually drag guests into tables, see the full layout, and iterate without starting from scratch every time. That's how SeatCanvas started.

It worked so well for us that I realized other couples going through the same thing could benefit from it too. So I kept building. What started as a personal project turned into a real product — one that I use, that I care about, and that I want to make the best tool out there for anyone planning a big event.
